Since its establishment, University of East Asia (UEA) has promoted education of humanity and professional skills to better society with the goal of training international personnel with creative minds, spirit of service, and health. In order to achieve this, UEA has programs consisting of small groups from the first year so that students can study in various fields such as medicine, health, sports, education, and design and take curriculum to acquire different qualifications and licenses. UEA has professors with expertise in various fields that help students find their future goals during their 4 years and nurture them to become global leaders. Students actively participate in internships in and out of the country.
Universities of East Asia, there are various facilities aside from lecture rooms or seminar rooms. For instance, there are library, recreation rooms, computer rooms, gymnasiums, indoor jogging fields, fitness rooms, video editing rooms, a video studio, a cafeteria, a convenience store, a baseball field, a football court, a dormitory for inbound students, and more. You can also use free Wi-Fi in the campus.

University of East Asia has a solid career counseling system that supports all students from the moment they enter the school to employment, preparing themselves to build a solid career in this global society. Since there are students from various countries/regions at the University of East Asia, the path of graduates varies widely. Therefore, there are various career development programs for the four year learning stages, providing solid career building support from the first year. Department of Clinical Psychology and Pedagogy
It aims to train personnel with a scientific understanding of the development process of social/physical psychology based on the study of psychology, education, and childcare, and a thorough understanding of education and human relationships.
■Clinical Psychology Major
Psychology is a study of seeking scientific reasons behind human emotions, attitude, and actions, which is used in various fields of modern society. This is because not only is it useful for counseling people who have problems, it is a useful tool to find out how people think or what they want. The clinical psychology course aims to train personnel who can make an impact across various fields of society by covering basic subjects on cognitive psychology to practical subjects such as clinical psychology.
■Nursing / Child Care Major
This course aims to train personnel who can cooperate with child support groups and local organizations to improve the well-being and education of children so they will grow up bright and strong. To achieve this, the course includes practical training from the first year where students can observe how children act and play to learn about the process of children growing up.
It aims to train teachers who will nurture the possibilities of children. Through this course students will understand the education structure of pedagogy, learn appropriate methods to teach subjects, and learn about the inner side of children by observing how children life, play, and learn.
Department of International Communication
In order to solve conflicts over limited resources arising in various parts of the world and environmental issues, the world needs personnel who can express themselves, establish a healthy relationship, and build an international alliance. This department aims to train real global leaders through curriculum that focus more on experience-based learning such as training programs in and out of the country.
■International Business Major
It aims to train international businesspersons with the ability to communicate and apply themselves in the international business scenes with expertise on international trading, business communication, information processing abilities, and the ability to reach an understanding with people who have different backgrounds.
■Tourism Management Major
Students acquire expertise and the ability to plan tourism policies and initiatives to revitalize local communities the tourism industry and local governments are working on. Furthermore, students gain expertise on tourism and economics/management and participate in internships at hotels and theme parks in and out of the country.
Department of Health and Sports
Aims to train personnel who can contribute to the development of sports at schools and society, as well as promotion of health and physical fitness. The department also aims to train personnel with expertise on the human anatomy and sports science who can contribute to athletes through provision of precaution measures and care for injuries as trainers.
■Sports Education and Coaching Major
It aims to train educators with the ability to analyze sports scientifically, has diverse coaching skills, and has highly practical skills.
■Health Management Major
It aims to train personnel with the ability to manage/operate businesses to promote sports environment and health by learning about sports medicine and health science.
■Athlete Training Major
It aims to train top athletes in baseball, volleyball, track and field, Judo, Kendo, and so on, as well as highly skilled trainers who can get results in various fields.
■Judo Therapist Major
Judo Therapist is a national qualification given to professionals who can take care of external injuries such as broken bones, dislocation, and sprains using Oriental medicine inspired by Judo. The course aims to train personnel to become a Judo Therapist by teaching the necessary knowledge of medicine and techniques.

Department of Medical Technology
It aims to train personnel with practical skills who can make contributions in the field of health/medicine/welfare.
■Clinical Technology Major
It aims to train personnel who can contribute to the field of medicine with expertise in medical equipment through studies of basic knowledge of medicine and technology and operation/maintenance/management of life support devices and other medical equipment.
■Emergency and Critical Care Major
A paramedic must perform life saving measures to the patient in an ambulance or a helicopter until they reach the hospital. The course aims to train paramedics with high practical abilities and a solid basis of medical knowledge through training from actual paramedics in the field.
■Animal Nursing Major
It aims to train expert staffs for veterinary clinics, zoos, aquariums, and more.
Department of Health and Nutritional Science
It aims to train personnel who can create nutrition plans to maintain health and provide nutritional coaching to patients.
■Nutrition Management Major
It aims to train personnel who can provide coaching on nutrition to promote health and prevent illness.
■Food Hygiene Major
It aims to train personnel who can manage and provide food hygiene coaching on inspection for food manufacturing/processing, imported foods, prevention of quarantinable infectious diseases, and so on.
■Sport Nutrition Major
It aims to train sport instructors by teaching basic knowledge/skills to promote nutrition, medicine, exercise, and health.

The department aims to train creative and skilled personnel with extensive knowledge who can apply themselves to various fields.
Department of Art and Design
First year students do not split up into courses but learn about the basics of art and design. From the Second year, students choose their course about the art and design that enriches our lives to become creators who lead the media expression of the next generation.
■Animation and Cinema Major
It aims to train creative experts of animation/cinema art by learning story-based animation, critical sounds for cinema, methods for basic expression of various characters, and the principles of staging in cinema.
■Painting and Modeling Major
It aims to train creative personnel who can contribute to modern society by studying expression through oil painting, watercolor painting, sculpture, and so on.
■Visual Design Major
It aims to train personnel who can contribute to society through creative designs for websites, product packages, advertisement, computer graphics, and more that entertain the audience.
It aims to train creative personnel who can design anything from furniture to cities by teaching skills necessary to become an architecture designer instead of an architecture engineer who focuses on earthquake-resistance buildings and structures.
Department of Total Beauty
It aims to train personnel who can create space that provides happiness and comfort through designs based on scientific understanding of lifestyles to promote beauty, health, and wellbeing of humans.
■Hospitality Business Management Major
It aims to train personnel with expertise in hotel, bridal, tourism, restaurants, airports, and hospitality management by teaching necessary management skills for the hospitality industry, international atmosphere and manners, language, and starting business skills.
■Fashion Creative Major
It aims to train personnel who can contribute to the fashion industry by teaching necessary design skills, techniques, and planning abilities to become a fashion creator such as fashion designer, makeup artist, or a hairstylist.
■Living Planning Major
It aims to train personnel who can create space that enriches people’s lives through architecture design and interior design.

■School of Life Science and Medical Engineering
Students comprehensively research vital phenomenon both perspectives of medicine and engineering.
■School of Human Sciences
Students research the identity of humans in the fields of culture, psychology, social anthropology, archaeology, history, geography, health science, and sports science.
■School of Advance Studies in Arts and Design
Students acquire basic knowledge and skills of design and research about design from both perspectives of history and sociology.
■School of Clinical Psychology
Students research social issues on clinical psychology and various activities of clinical psychologists by learning about principles, knowledge, and skills of clinical psychology.
Japanese Language Program (Ryugakusei Bekka)
Japanese Language Program is formal university courses as defined by the School Education Law. This course in Japanese Language and Japanese Studies taught in Japanese. Students can study Japanese in rich curriculum which includes Japanese Studies and Culture courses, and take advantage of other university facilities. It aim of providing Japanese language education and understanding of Japanese culture to privately-financed international students who wish to enter a degree program at University of East Asia or other universities and graduate schools in Japan. We offer to support in searching for work in Japan. The Special Language Program will help you prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (N1 and N2 levels) which is a requirement when searching for a job as well as entering a university.
There are three education concepts in the University of East Asia, including “Sweat for Others, Master One Technology (the Founding Idea)”, “Living regionally, Thinking Globally” and “Meeting Friends, Living with Friends”. First, we aim to “real practical education”, and perform human education to raise extensive culture and enriched humanity as well as education for acquiring qualifications or certificates such as national qualifications. Second, we train talented people with higher ability of problem investigation and resolution through contacting with regional society and practicing experience in international and global vision. Third, we raise basic sense of people to expand his world through various encounters, and to think about what he could do for other people and the society.
Major educating subjects of each department are arranged stage by stage according to the school year from basic subjects to high-level special subject, and graduate study is compulsory in the 4th year. ICT subjects are included in the major educating subjects. In order to practice real practical education, we are encouraging more students to acquire qualifications and certificates, such as national qualifications, etc. Additionally, we are opening various practice subjects inside and outside of the university in order to train practical abilities.
As globalization continues and borders disappear, the ability to speak English and other foreign languages is no longer enough in this global society. One must be able to understand and adapt to the various issues that arise from cultural differences. People can only acquire such skills through experiencing life abroad first hand. University of East Asia provides many opportunities for study abroad and intercultural encounters to train personnel who can contribute to the global society. Partnering up with universities in America, Canada, China, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, we have sent many students abroad. Furthermore, there are many inbound students studying at the University of East Asia.
The International Communication Center is founded aiming to promote academic and cultural communication with foreign universities, admission of international students and assistance for study and life as well as enrichment of education research of the university and contribution of regional internationalization.
University of East Asia has established the UEA ASEAN Center at Bangkok in Thailand as our overseas headquarter and the International Exchange Center on campus to promote international experiences for our staffs/students and take in inbound students. Furthermore, we have established the Research Institute of East Asian Cultures to spread the results of our studies regarding Eastern Asia.
University of East Asia is located in Shimonoseki-city, the westernmost point of Honshu, which is the closest location to Southeast Asia. Historically, Shimonoseki-city flourished as an entrance for visitors from Kyushu, China/Korean Peninsula, and other Asian nations. In addition, a city was involved in important events of Japanese history. It is also home of numerous prime ministers including the first Prime Minister Hirofumi Ito and the latest Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. It is a castle town with many natural tourism spots like hot springs. It is also close to Fukuoka and Hakata. The weather is nice and warm and there is no need to worry about earthquakes. It is a perfect city for students to focus on their studies.
